About our Ruby Rife Fight For A New Life Angel Fund
My name is Crystal, I had endometrial cancer in 2004. My mother passed away from breast cancer, my cousin from ovarian cancer and my grandmother is also an endometrial cancer survivor. We have named this Angel Foundation, the "Ruby Rife Fight For A New Life Angel Fund- Helping Female Cancer Survivors Thrive Again©" in honor of our mother who fought breast cancer five times before loosing the battle and whose wings were clipped to early in this life.
This is a request for funds to start and develop a foundation to help other women cancer survivors begin a new chapter in their life by opening or expanding their own businesses. Monies raised will also include services for classes in how to start their own business after recovering from an extensive illness to classes that teach women how to love themselves and their bodies as they are. Classes like belly dancing, meditation, spiritual and holistic healing and more. Other classes will focus on prevention including knowing what to ask their doctor when getting check ups and what tests should be preformed so that female cancers are not missed during normal checkups. For example, many women are unaware that pap smears do not check for endometrial cancer or ovarian cancer. I myself, had a normal pap right up to the time they wheeled me into surgery for a complete hysterectomy.
Why start this foundation? Often times, women cancer survivors find themselves devastated from loss of friends, job, husbands, boyfriends and financial equity. But despite these losses, they still want to do something spectacular with their lives once more. So I am asking for angel donations from other women and those caretakers, sons, daughters and family members who have watched their loved one fight for a new beginning after recovery. There are lots of programs out there that help with cancer as you go through it, but once you are healed, there are few programs, especially business grants, for women to rebuild their lives' in a way that allows them to thrive. Many cancer survivors are not able to physically do what once they could but would like an opportunity to participate and thrive in an entrepreneur opportunity that supports them emotionally, physically and financially. More often times cancer and the re-occurrence of cancer is a byproduct of domestic violence and neglect. By giving these women hope, we may eradicate these things from their lives. We can save women's lives by education and empowerment and offer real money for start up capital. Many banks still don't like to lend to women business owners and many more others are reluctant if there has been a health crisis. So here I am, asking other women around the world to help us grow, women need to help women. You may think it an unorthodox way to get funds, but consider what Oprah with her vast resources does for women businesses all the time, together we can accumulate those resources and make a real difference. These would be grants to women, and all we would require for payback is to "pay it forward" by donating yearly to the foundation so we can help more women. Imagine what we could accomplish with one another.
For those that give, we will display their name, picture and their story on our website. Those who wish to donate anonymously may also give. Names will also be inscribed in a book with cancer type and geographical area and will be displayed in our store. Both men and women wishing to honor someone who have survived cancer or passed with cancer are encouraged to participate. I am asking for you to give, for you to offer a chance for women cancer survivors to be empowered with a concrete hope for a new beginning. The rewards for a cancer survivor is more than financial it also offers a renewed faith and an emotional and mental belief that life will go on and can be just as good or better then before. All funds for the foundation will be held in a separate account for the foundation, women cancer survivors will apply to the foundation to obtain a grant to expand their existing business or begin a new one. My best friend keeps reminding me to trust in the universe and that people can choose to help each other!
